SkillBridge Platform Terms of Service

Welcome to SkillBridge, a platform connecting homeowners and property managers with trusted handymen and licensed professionals across the United States. By using SkillBridge, you agree to the following terms and conditions:
- Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using the SkillBridge platform, website, mobile app, or any of our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy.
- Service Description
SkillBridge provides a marketplace for clients ("Homeowners") to find, hire, and manage independent service providers ("Providers") including handymen and licensed contractors. SkillBridge does not perform handyman, contracting, or construction services and is not a general contractor, subcontractor, or employer of any service provider.
While SkillBridge facilitates connections between clients and service providers, we do not guarantee the outcome, quality, or completion of any services rendered. All work agreements, timelines, and warranties are between the client and the provider.
- Account Registration
To use the platform, users must create an account and provide accurate information. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials.
- User Roles
- Homeowners/Clients: Post jobs, approve work, and release payments.
- Providers: Offer services, complete jobs, and receive payments upon client approval.
- Payments & Escrow
SkillBridge uses a third-party payment processor (such as Stripe Connect) to securely hold client funds in escrow until work is completed and approved.
5.1 Escrow System
- Clients fund jobs or milestones in advance.
- Funds are held in escrow and released only when the client clicks "Satisfied" or approves completion.
- SkillBridge does not hold or control user funds at any time. All funds are managed through our payment processor.
5.2 Auto-Release
- If a client does not respond within 72 hours of completion being marked, funds may be automatically released to the Provider.
5.3 Platform Fee
- SkillBridge retains a service fee (e.g. 15%) from each transaction before releasing funds to Providers.
5.4 Third-Party Services Disclaimer
- The platform may rely on third-party services for payments, background checks, messaging, maps, or other tools. SkillBridge is not responsible for any outages, errors, or liabilities arising from these third-party services.
- Dispute Resolution
In case of disagreement:
- Funds are temporarily frozen.
- SkillBridge support will attempt to mediate.
- Disputes unresolved after mediation may be escalated to arbitration.
- Independent Contractor Status
Providers are not employees or agents of SkillBridge. They are independent contractors and are responsible for their own licensing, taxes, and insurance. As such, SkillBridge is not responsible for the actions, omissions, work quality, or conduct of any provider on the platform.
- Compliance
Users agree to comply with all local, state, and federal regulations governing the services they offer or receive.
- Limitations of Liability
SkillBridge is not liable for damages, losses, or disputes arising from service interactions. SkillBridge acts only as a facilitator and does not guarantee the quality or outcome of services.
SkillBridge does not guarantee that any service provider holds a valid license, certification, bond, or insurance unless explicitly stated and verified. Clients are encouraged to request and independently verify all credentials and qualifications before hiring any provider.
While SkillBridge may offer optional background checks or verification tools, we do not guarantee their completeness, accuracy, or reliability. Clients are responsible for exercising due diligence before hiring any provider.
SkillBridge does not provide or verify insurance coverage for service providers or clients. It is the sole responsibility of both parties to carry appropriate liability, property, or workers’ compensation insurance.
Clients and providers are solely responsible for obtaining required work permits, following building codes, and complying with local, state, and federal laws. SkillBridge does not oversee or assume responsibility for legal compliance on any project.
- Termination
SkillBridge reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts for violations of these terms, misconduct, fraud, or illegal activity.
- Use at Your Own Risk
By using SkillBridge, you acknowledge and accept that all interactions, transactions, and hiring decisions are at your own risk. SkillBridge is not responsible for damages, injuries, property loss, or any other claim arising from the use of the platform or services rendered by providers.
12. Non-Circumvention Clause (in Terms of Service)
All users agree not to bypass the SkillBridge platform to engage in direct transactions with clients or service providers introduced through the platform. Any attempt to circumvent the platform for direct payment or ongoing services outside of SkillBridge, without express written permission, is a breach of these Terms and may result in removal from the platform and legal action.
- Service Availability and Local Law Compliance
SkillBridge services may not be available in all regions, and features may vary by state or locality. Clients and providers are responsible for understanding and complying with their local laws and licensing requirements before using the platform.
- Intellectual Property
All content, branding, design, and software on the SkillBridge platform is the intellectual property of Khumalo Investiments, LLC. Unauthorized use, copying, or distribution is strictly prohibited.
- Modifications
SkillBridge may update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the platform constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
